Free
Trade
This is the second book in EPICA's Popular Education series on Globalization.
The book addresses three main topics: 1) free trade in general; 2)
the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) in particular; and 3) the
movement against these agreements and against neoliberal globalization.
The main idea of the book is that free trade contains a lot of trade
but very little freedom. Free Trade, instead of promoting the development
of poor countries, is generating extraordinary power and wealth for
transnational companies while it sinks most people inpoor countries
even further into the slavery of poverty.

The Globalization of Hope
Central America, Mexico and the
Caribbean in the New Millennium
Volume One
Edited by Scott Wright, Kathy Ogle & Ann Butwell
"The Globalization of Hope brings us
the voices of church activists from forgotten corners of the world.
Their testimonies from Central America, Haiti and Chiapas are an indictment
of current neoliberal triumphalism. Offering modest hints of an alternative,
they prod us to keep walking." - Phil Berryman, author of
Stubborn Hope, and The Religious Roots of the Rebellion
(Orbis Books).
The Globalization of Hope is the first volume
of EPICA's 30th anniversary anthology. It charts a difficult transition
from popular struggles for liberation in Central America, Mexico and
the Caribbean to local struggles for survival. Neoliberalism is examined
from the perspective of its impact on the poor and the struggle to develop
an alternative. A final section highlights the call for global solidarity.
